Sharon's Story

Sharon L. Runyan, 66, of 369 Avalon Drive passed away the evening of Monday, June 19, 2017, at UPMC Jameson Hospital.
Sharon was born on May 24, 1951, in Camp Atterbury, Indiana. She was a daughter of the late Dale H. and Emma C. Kennedy Ealy Sr.
Sharon was married to Clint E. Runyan. They were married on Aug. 9, 1974, and spent 42 wonderful years together. Mr. Runyan survives at home.
Sharon was a graduate of Union High School, class of 1969.
She was of the Protestant faith.
Mrs. Runyan will be remembered by her family as a loving wife, mother, sister and grandmother.
Sharon worked for 10 years as ward clerk at the former St. Francis Hospital.
Mrs. Runyan was a member and former past president of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary of Post 267. Sharon enjoyed making knot blankets and going to yard sales with her grandchildren. Mrs. Runyan loved her church and was a very active member.
In addition to her husband, Clint, she is survived by her daughter, Christine Lynn (Russell) Sager of New Castle; her brother, Dale H. Ealy Jr. of Hermitage; six sisters, Cathy Wischerman of New Castle, Gayle E. Suisi of New Castle, Patricia R. (Charles) Withers of New Castle, Diane (Jerry) Book of Chicago, Cheryl (John) Carna of Florida and Ann Carna of Ohio; and two grandchildren, James and Tyler Sager.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Frank Carna Jr.; and her infant sister, Angel Marie Ealy.
Calling hours will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Noga Funeral Home Inc., 1142 S. Mill St., New Castle.
A funeral celebration will be conducted at 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home following visitation. The Rev. Fredrick Gilbert, pastor of Independent Methodist Church, will officiate.
Burial will be in Castle View Memorial Gardens.
