Stanley's Story

Stanley Smialowski, 96, of 520 Friendship St., New Castle, formerly of Union Township, passed away the morning of April 20, 2017, at Golden Hill Nursing Home.
Stanley was born April 22, 1920, in New Castle. He was the son of the late George and Josephine Kurzawa Smialowski. Stanley was Roman Catholic and a member of Mary, Mother of Hope Parish.
Stanley served his country for 20 years as a cook and baker in the U.S. Merchant Marines. He then worked for 10 years as a foreman with the Pennsylvania Highway Department. Mr. Smialowski was a member of the Kasimir Pulaski Club. He enjoyed the outdoors, working in his garden, going fishing and racing pigeons. Stanley was a big Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers fan.
Mr. Smialowski is survived by numerous loving nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Edward, Walter, John, Louis and Joseph Smialowski, and two sisters, Anna Jendrysik, and Jennie Jaworski.
Calling hours will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, April 22, 2017, at the Noga Funeral Home Inc., 1142 S. Mill St., New Castle.
A Blessing Service will be celebrated at 11 a.m. following visitation in the funeral home. Pastoral associate Lauren DeFelice will officiate. Burial will be in Madonna Cemetery. Online condolences may be viewed or offered by visiting nogafuneralhome.com.
