Sylvia Lombardo Ryan, 96, formerly of Pearson Street, passed away the morning of June 7, 2017, at Rhodes Estates.
Born on Sept. 26, 1920, in New Castle, she was the daughter of the late Louis and Concelia Viggiano Lombardo. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Ryan, who passed away on July 1, 1970.
After 40 years of working, Sylvia retired as a decorator for Shenango Pottery. She was a member of St. Vitus Church. Sylvia enjoyed baseball and was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Sylvia is survived by her nieces and nephews, Fred Peluso, Louis Lombardo and his wife JoAnn, Patty Cavelli and her husband Richard, Kathy Hall, Gen Altier and Cassie Powell and her husband Bill. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Josephine Lombardo, Philomena Peluso, Julia Gamble and Madeline Majocha, and brothers, Nick Lombardo, Dominick Genovese, and Fred "Jumbo" Lombardo.
Visitation will be held Sunday from 1 to 2 p.m. at Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory, 941 S. Mill St. Blessing services will be conducted Sunday at 2 p.m. at the funeral home, officiated by Deacon John Carran.
Interment will take place in St. Vitus Cemetery.
