V. Juanita's Story
V. Juanita Gunther, 95, of New Castle passed away Aug. 9, 2017, at Golden Hill Nursing Center.
Born May 24, 1922, in New Castle, she was the daughter of Emlyn and Sarah Jones Lewis. She married Edward A. Gunther on Sept. 19, 1946 who preceded her in death on April 6, 2006.
Juanita was a children's clothes designer for Nantucket Design for Children and also worked for Vivienne's Antiques.
She was a member of SAGA, the Smocking Arts Guild of America, enjoying the art of English Smocking. She taught her skill of smocking at the Quilting Bee in New Wilmington.
Prior to attending St. John Lutheran Church, she attended Christ Lutheran Church.
She is survived by one daughter, Deborah (Robert) McHattie of New Castle, and one grandchild, Zane McHattie and spouse, Andreena Harriman.
Juanita was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Visitation will be held on Friday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road.
A service will follow visitation at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Glenn Crytzer officiating.
Burial will be in Oak Park Cemetery.
