Allen James "Jim" Minshull Obituary

East Lackawannock Township, Pennsylvania - Allen James "Jim" Minshull, 88, of Mercer, East Lackawannock Township, passed away at his residence the morning of Friday, Nov. 16, 2018. He was born on Dec. 5, 1929, in Jackson Center, son of Frederick Minshull and Lessie Jones. He married Marilyn Barton on Aug. 24, 1950, in the Clarks Mills Methodist Church.

He retired from Penn Power as a marketing director. He graduated from Stoneboro High School in 1947, the University of Missouri in 1958, and did graduate work at Penn State University.

He was a member of Mercer United Methodist Church for 50-plus years, and was an Air Force veteran during the Korean Conflict, serving as a Staff Sergeant Medic. He was a member of Lake Lodge #434 Free and Accepted Masons, Sandy Lake; Scottish Rite Consistory, New Castle; and was a Union carpenter from 1947-51; taught vocational agriculture at Victory Joint Clintonville and Mercer from 1958-62; and was member of Edison Electric Institute.

He is survived by one daughter, Glenda Ann, wife of John Corner in Mercer; one son, Dr. James Barton Minshull and his wife Barbara Ann in Jackson Center; four grandchildren, Christine Corner Ashi in Gibsonia, William Corner in Beaver, Ian Minshull in Center Township, and Alissa Minshull in Austin, TX; two step-grandchildren, Margaret Henderson in Washington, D.C. and Max Henderson in Akron, OH; and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; four brothers, Elliott, Herbert, Thomas, and William Minshull; and two sisters, Helen Anthony and Myrtle Symons.

Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2018, at Mercer United Methodist Church, 250 E. Butler St., Mercer, PA 16137.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2018, at Cunningham Funeral Home Inc., 144 S. Pitt St., Mercer, PA 16137 and also one hour prior to the service at the church. A Masonic service will be held by the members of Lake Lodge #434 Free and Accepted Masons, Sandy Lake, PA at 9 p.m. following visitation on Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2018.

Officiating will be Rev. Richard N. Carlson and Rev. Brian Keller, both of Mercer United Methodist Church, Mercer, PA.

Burial at Zion Methodist Cemetery, Worth Township, Mercer County with a military service to be held following the committal at the cemetery.
