Anita Mae Peffer Obituary
Anita Mae McAnlis Peffer, 64, of Plain Grove Township, Volant, Pennsylvania, passed away at Butler Memorial Hospital on Friday, Feb. 11, 2022.
She was born in New Galilee, Pennsylvania, on Aug. 1, 1957, to Wayne Sleath McAnlis and Lois Anita Vance McAnlis.
Throughout childhood, Anita was an active member of 4H, Grange, FHA (a state officer) and high school square dancing team. She graduated from Mohawk High School in 1975 and the St. Francis School of Nursing in New Castle, Pennsylvania, in 1978.
She was a labor and delivery nurse at United Community Hospital (Grove City Medical Center) for almost 30 years.
She was an active member of Portersville Bible Church, where she was involved in the women's ministry group (Dorcas Circle), and of Plain Grove/Liberty Grange.
Anita had a sincere love for others that was evident in all aspects of her life. Her love of children was expressed during her days at Grove City Hospital, delivering babies and taking care of new mothers, and through volunteering for church and school activities.
Her life was filled with sewing, cooking, art and music, and she touched others' lives by ministering with those gifts.
She enjoyed spending time in God's creation, especially as an enthusiastic camper, a love that she passed on to her children and grandchildren. Throughout it all, she was an excellent godly example of how to live and love to the fullest. She didn't question God's plan, she held onto His promises. She touched the lives of countless others, yet always put family and home first.
Her children were her pride, and her grandchildren were her joy.
She leaves behind her beloved husband Barry, with whom she recently celebrated 43 years of marriage; three sons, Jay E., Craig W. (Becky) and Tyler A. (Karianne) Peffer, all of Pittsburgh; daughter, Abby L. Peffer of Springfield, Virginia;: sister, Margaret "Peggy" (Timothy) Grim of Kutztown, Pennsylvania; five brothers, Thomas McAnlis of Belgrade, Montana, Rev. John "Jack" (Rev. Karin) McAnlis of Langhorne, Pennsylvania, Dale (Faith) McAnlis of New Galilee, Pennsylvania, William (Jackie) McAnlis of Newburg, Pennsylvania, and Wallace McAnlis of Eastbrook, Pennsylvania; and four grandchildren, Sam, Ava, Nora and Liam.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
