New Castle, PA - Anthony (Tony) Santangelo of Shenango Township passed away April 9, 2026, at 87 in his home.

He was born Sept. 16, 1938, in Piedimonte Matese, Italy.

Tony was the son of the late John and Carmela Conti Santangelo. His parents and siblings came to the United States in 1954 and settled in New Castle, where they proudly became U.S. citizens.

Tony married his beloved wife of 63 years, the former Patricia Sunseri, on June 23, 1962. She survives at home in New Castle.

Tony was a member of Holy Spirit Parish, St. Vitus Church.

He was a jack of all trades, but his main trade was a licensed auto mechanic. Besides working on cars, he loved gardening, tending to his fig trees, traveling, going to car shows, music and dancing and enjoying time with family, friends and grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, Tony is survived by his daughter, Deanna Owrey (Dean) of New Castle; his son, Anthony (Tony) Santangelo (Christy) of New Castle; a sister, Mac Navarro of Los Altos, California; four grandchildren, Alexa Owrey, Ryan Owrey, Benjamin Santangelo and Jonathan Santangelo; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Tony was preceded in death by his sister, Josephine Santangelo; his brother, Vincent Santangelo; and brother-in-law, Rob Navarro.

A private visitation will be held for the family at the Ed & Don DeCarbo Funeral Home & Crematory, 941 S. Mill St. A Mass of Christian burial will follow at Holy Spirit Parish, St. Vitus Church, officiated by Father Aaron Kriss. Entombment will be in Parkside Mausoleum.

The family wishes to thank the many caregivers from AHN Healthcare At Home for the excellent care and compassion that they gave to Tony.
