Audrey I. (Dodds) Hromyak
Audrey Irene (Dodds) Hromyak, 86, of 528 Rothrock Road Copley, Ohio, formerly of New Castle, passed away the afternoon of November 9, 2019, at the Justin T. Rodgers Hospice Center, Akron, Ohio.
Audrey was born December 12, 1932, in New Castle. She was the daughter of the late Warren E. and Edna McElroy Dodds.
She was married to the late Myron M. Hromyak. He preceded her in death on August 23, 2016. They were married 61 years.
She was Roman Catholic.
Mrs. Hromyak was a graduate of Shenango High School, class of 1950.
Following graduation, Mrs. Hromyak worked in the Customer Service Department at the former Bell Telephone. She retired after 15 years of service as a bank teller at First National Bank.
Audrey was very active in her church and counted the collections for many years. She was a member of the Rapid Tappets Car Club. She enjoyed working with her hands as a seamstress, quilter and crafter. She was a member of the Pieceful Pursuits and Library Stitchers guilds. Audrey loved to play the organ and piano, and was a part of the Bell Choir at Copley Place.
Mrs. Hromyak is survived by two sons, Thomas J. (Karla) Hromyak of Wadsworth, Ohio, and David M. Hromyak and his companion Jeanine, of Ankeny, Iowa; two grandsons Michael J. (Holly) Hromyak and Steven T. (Shelly) Hromyak; three great-grandchildren, Joshua Boettner, Nikki Hromyak, and Collin Gaitan.
In addition to her parents and husband Myron, she was preceded in death by sister and brother-in-law, Marge (Don) Furlong.
Calling hours will be held 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, November 13, 2019, at the Noga Funeral Home, Inc., 1142 S. Mill Street, New Castle.
A procession will leave the funeral home Thursday morning at 9:30 a.m. where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. in the Holy Spirit Parish, Mary Mother of Hope site. The Rev. Anthony Sciarappa, Parochial Vicar of Holy Spirit Parish will officiate. Rite of Committal will take place in St. Nicholas Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family is a asking for donations to be made in her name to: Cleveland Clinic/Akron General Justin T. Rodgers Hospice Care Center, 3358 Ridgewood Road Akron, OH 44333.
A Celebration of Life service will take place Friday afternoon at 3:30 p.m. at the Copley Place Senior Living Center. Online condolences may be viewed or given by visiting nogafuneral home.com.
