Enon Valley - Benjamin L. Hazelton, 94, passed away Jan. 20, 2026, at his home with family by his side.
Benjamin was born Dec. 4, 1931, in New Castle, PA, son of the late Glendon Hazelton I and Bertha Stafford Hazelton.
He was a proud veteran of the U.S, Navy and served in the Korean War with a rank of seaman apprentice.
He was an active member of Enon Valley Church of Christ, where he served a number of years as an elder and also taught Sunday school and was a treasurer for the church.
He worked as a 1st Class Machinist for Babcock & Wilcox for 30 years before retiring in 1987.
He enjoyed reading, mainly science fiction and westerns, and loved camping and was very patriotic.
Benjamin is survived by his wife of 13 years, Jan (Passmore) Hazelton; a son, Glenn (Paula Stark) Hazelton II of Wampum; three daughters, Cheri (Terry) Gray of Enon Valley, Robin (Wayne) James of Negley and Sabrina (Bob) Whanger of Negley; 12 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and several stepfamily members.
He was preceded in death by his first wife of 57 years, Amanda "Jane" Hazelton in 2009; a granddaughter, Sarah Mae Duff; and a brother, James Boyle.
A funeral will be held 1 p.m. Friday Jan. 23, 2026, at the Lake Mount Church of Christ, 6290 SR 7, New Waterford, OH with Dick Hanze, Dick Chambers and Joshua Long officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services from noon to 1 p.m. at the church. A private interment will follow at Crest Haven Memorial Gardens in New Waterford.
The family wishes to thank four caregivers, LouAnn Clemmer, Patrick Damrogio, Charli Welsch and Kasey Squires for the compassion they showed to Benjamin.
Due to allergies, the family requests no flowers be sent unless silk, and would request memorial contributions be made to the Wounded Warrior Project in his name at woundedwarriorproject.org
