Betty Jean Affagato Obituary

Betty Jean Affagato, 75, of 9 Field Ave., Bessemer, died the morning of Saturday, Jan. 21, 2006, in Edison Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Born May 23, 1930, in Youngstown, she was a daughter of Orrin and Mary Jane Thullen Johns. They preceded her in death. She married Peter F. Affagato on April 12, 1950. He survives in Bessemer. Mrs. Affagato was a homemaker. She enjoyed traveling. Mrs. Affagato was a member of Christ the King Parish. In addition to her husband, survivors include a son, Randy Affagato of New Castle; a brother and sister-in-law, William H. and Tina Johns of Boardman; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Marjorie Schneider of Hollywood, Fla., and Carole and Richard Van Opynen of Spring Lake, Mich.; two grandchildren, Calle Affagato and Peter J. Affagato, both of New Castle; and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Thomas F. Johns. Visitation is 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. tomorrow at the William F. and Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home, 926 Cunningham Ave. A blessing service will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. tomorrow in the William F. DeCarbo Memorial Chapel of the funeral home. The Rev. James Downs of Christ the King Parish will officiate. Burial will be in St. Lawrence Cemetery in Hillsville.
