Callie Agee Obituary

Callie Agee, 86, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Monday, July 20, 2015, in her home in New Castle. Born on April 6, 1929, in Ensley, Ala., she was a daughter of the late Ed and Marcella George Lewis. Callie had worked many years in the housekeeping department at Youngstown State University. Callie had worked many years in the housekeeping department at Youngstown State University. She was married to the Rev. A.D. Agee, and she served as the first lady of Mount Olive Baptist Church of Warren, Ohio, for 24 years. Later, Callie attended Mount Vernon Baptist Church in Youngstown. After moving to New Castle, she became a member of St. Luke A.M.E. Zion Church. As the matriarch of five generations, she enjoyed spending time with her family. Callie also liked to go shopping, but her greatest love was her Lord. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. A. D. Agee; a son, Melvin Agee; a brother, Henry Lewis; and a sister, Evelyn Nash. Callie will be sadly missed by her daughters, Linda (Phillip) Taylor and Soundra McCants, all of New Castle; two brothers, Edward (Peggy) Lewis of Atlanta and Charles Lewis of Birmingham Ala.; a sister, Geraldine Lewis of Birmingham; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends. Friends will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, July 25, at St. Luke A.M.E. Zion Church, 603 Harbor Church, where the service will take place at 11 a.m. Interment will be in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies in Bridgeville, Pa. Services are entrusted to the Charlotte A. Sheffield Funeral Home, 454 Chestnut St., New Castle.
