New Castle, PA - Carol Ann Church, 78, of New Castle passed away the afternoon of May 10, 2025, at UPMC Passavant-McCandless Hospital.

Born Sept. 7, 1946, in New Castle, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of Eugene and Angela (Miller) Johnson, who preceded her in death.

Carol graduated as a Commodore of '64 from New Castle High School and took employment in the kitchen at Jameson Hospital. Later in life, she became a cook and transferred to Jameson South until her retirement.

Carol married her husband, Gary, on June 15, 1974, celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary with friends last June.

She was raised in the Alliance church, but after her marriage to Gary, attended the Nazarene church until it closed. They later found a church home at First Baptist Church, where they still attend.

Among her varied interests, Carol enjoyed baking, especially her well-known apple and peach pies. She also made outstanding spaghetti and meatballs like none other.

She enjoyed going out to dinner and going on short road trips, but her favorite times were spent around the table enjoying a meal with her family, sharing many laughs together.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by one daughter, Leann (Brian) Puccio; one grandson, Austin; sister-in-law, Lealia Doutt; and brother-in-law, Paul Church.

Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 14, at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle.

A funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 15, at the funeral home with Pastor Scott Frederick of First Baptist Church officiating.

Carol will be laid to rest in Castle View Memorial Gardens.
