New Castle - A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 1, 2026, at Holy Spirit Parish/St. Vitus Church, 910 S. Mercer St., New Castle, PA 16101, for Carolyn M. Bodnar, 88, who passed away Tuesday morning, March 17, 2026.

Carolyn was born June 1, 1937, in New Castle, Pennsylvania, a daughter of Peter and Mary Olacz and was a lifelong area resident.

She earned an associate degree from the New Castle Business College, then worked as a deputy sheriff for Lawrence County, a secretary for PennDOT in New Castle, Pennsylvania, and was a homemaker.

She was a member of Holy Spirit Parish/St. Vitus Church, and she volunteered at St. Francis Hospital and the VA Clinic, all in New Castle, Pennsylvania.

She was past president at Mary Martha Guild in St. Joseph the Worker.

Carolyn married Donald Joseph Bodnar on Aug. 17, 1963.

Besides her loving husband, to whom she was married for 62 years, of New Castle, she leaves one son, Jon (Regina A.) Bodnar of New Castle, Pennsylvania; son-in-law, Pete Milkovich; two grandchildren, Nicholas and Andrew Mikovich; and a sister-in-law, Evelyn Olacz of New Castle, Pennsylvania.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Caroline Milkovich; three brothers, Richard, John and Ed Olacz; and three sisters, Stella Litterini, Ann Milkowicz and June Duda.

Per Carolyn's wishes, there will be no calling hours.
