New Castle, PA - Deacon Charles D. Bell, 85, of New Castle, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2025, at UPMC Mercy Hospital.

He was born Jan. 7, 1940, in Greenville, Georgia, to the late Arthur Bell and the late Viola Coleman Bell.

He married the love of his life, Sadie (Scott) Bell, on Nov. 16, 1961, and from this union, they were blessed with seven children.

Deacon Bell was a faithful member of St. John United Holy Church, where he served as an ordained deacon, a member of the choir and the male chorus choir. He served faithfully on Sundays and Bible studies until his health declined.

Deacon Bell will be remembered for valiantly serving his country in the United States Army.

He retired from General Motors after 30 years, Penn Power after 20 years and most recently from Jameson Health Care as the head of maintenance.

Charles was a provider, protector and he passionately loved his family.

Deacon Bell is survived by his children, Charles V. Bell (the late Selina) and Brenda Felder (George), Torrance Bell (Grace) and Tina Owens; his brothers, Terry Bell (Faye) and Arthur Duwayne Bell (Stephanie); his sisters, Elizabeth Adams (the late Walter) and Melinda Allen (the late Medford Allen); and 14 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Sadie; his son, Jonathan Bell; his daughters, Shirley Rose Scott and Toresa Wilson (Edward); his sisters, Barbara Atwood and Geraldine Bell; his brothers, John, Valentino and Jaydell; and his grandson, Stacy Scott, who all went before him in Glory.

Friends and family will be received from 10 a.m. until the time of the Homegoing at noon Friday, Nov. 21, 2025, at St. John United Holy Church, 1207 Moravia St., New Castle, PA 16101. Interment to follow at Greenwood Cemetery.
