Clara J. Alfano, 92, formerly of Hunters Lane, passed away the morning of Oct. 12, 2020, at Quality Life Services of New Castle.

Born on May 12, 1928, in New Castle, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Mary Mitlo Domiano.

On Oct. 8, 1949, Clara married her beloved husband, Thomas P. Alfano. He preceded her in death on Feb. 29, 2016.

Clara was a member of Holy Spirit Parish, St. Vitus site. There, she was part of the Christian Mothers and the Ladies Guild of the church. She was also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Knight of Columbus.

Clara enjoyed cooking and baking.

A loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, her greatest joy was the time she spent with her family.

Clara is survived by her children, Jerry Alfano and his wife, Patty, of New Castle, Diane Sajewski and her husband, Bill, of Mercer and Janice Shoup of New Castle; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, Clara was preceded in death by her brother, Philip Damiano Sr.; sisters, Mary R. Domiano, Catherine Domiano, Jennie Domiano and an infant sister; son-in-law, Douglas Shoup; and one grandson, Andrew Sajewski.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday at the Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home, 941 S. Mill St.

Visitors are required to adhere to CDC guidelines regarding the wearing of face masks and practicing social distancing.

Family and friends are asked to meet at Holy Spirit Parish, St. Vitus Church at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday for a Mass of Christian burial. Father Anthony Sciarappa will officiate.

Burial will be in St. Vitus Cemetery.
