David W. Alwardt, 57, of New Castle, passed away the morning of February 8. 2016 at his residence. Born on Feb. 22, 1958 in Springfield, Ill., he was a son of the late Wilbert Alwardt and Naomi Gaines Alwardt. David had worked as an electrical contractor. David had worked as an electrical contractor. He also served his country as a member of the Army. David enjoyed listening to and singing country music. David is survived by his children, Kimberly Bryan and husband, Shawn, of New Castle, Jack Alwardt and wife, Samantha, of New Castle, and Travis Panevich of North Lima, Ohio; brother, Dale Alwardt of New Castle; sisters, Tina Heslop and husband, Robert, of New Castle and Marilyn Weber and husband, Dennis, of Myerstown, Pa.; and four grandchildren. Visitation will be held 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory, 941 S. Mill St. Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, officiated by Pastor Jeff McKay of Harmony Baptist Church. The New Castle Area Honor Guard will conduct military rites at the funeral home. Interment will take place in Parkside Cemetery.
