Washington D.C. - David Robert Donahue, age 73, passed away peacefully after a brief illness Dec. 21, 2025, in Washington, D.C.

David was retired and living in Chevy Chase, Maryland, with his life-long partner, Sylvia (Perretta) Lesic.

David was born and raised in Boardman, Ohio.

He attended Youngstown State College and completed his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration at the University of Pittsburgh.

David had a distinguished career in leadership roles in the public sector for the YMCA, American Diabetes Association and the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF). His dedication to excellence earned him wide respect among his professional peers.

David was an avid runner, golfer and overall sports enthusiast. He also enjoyed watching all sports and binge watching his favorite TV series alongside his beloved Capital Cats.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie R. and Barbara (Mounds) Donahue.

He is survived by his sister, Cheryl Lundin. He will be sadly missed by his extended Gallagher, Angell and Donahue families of the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, area, along with his friends from the Washington, D.C., and Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, area.

Visitation will be 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 27, 2025, at William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home, 926 Cunningham Ave. A blessing service will be celebrated at 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 27, 2025, at the William F. DeCarbo Memorial Chapel. Burial will be in St. Lucy Cemetery.
