Donald Lelii Obituary

Donald Lelii, 94, of Addis Street, New Castle, died Friday, March 29, 2019, at his home in New Castle. He was born on Jan. 13, 1925, in New Castle, a son of the late Ralph and Nicolina (Morelli) Lelii. He was married to the late Minnie (Parise) Lelii who died Nov. 17, 2014.

Mr. Lelii was a machinist at Mesta Machine, retiring after 20 years. He was an Army Air Corp veteran of World War II serving in Italy. He was a Master Sergeant and a flight engineer and gunner. He enjoyed hunting, playing baseball and watching sports. He also loved spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by two daughters, Lauren Matteo and her husband, Harlan, of New Castle, and Valerie Matteo of Pittsburgh; one sister, Dolores Quartini of Masury, OH; and four grandchildren, Cole Matteo, Risa Formisano, Jay D. Matteo, and Vincent Matteo.

He was also preceded in death by his brother, Walter Lelii; and his sister, Anna Manes.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, April 3, 2019, at the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home, 926 Cunningham Ave. Blessing services will be held at 6 p.m Wednesday, April 3, 2019, at the William F. DeCarbo Memorial Chapel. Deacon S. Dan Kielar will be officiating. Burial will be in the Castle View Memorial Gardens. The New Castle Area Honor Guard will perform Military Funeral Rites at the funeral home.
