New Castle, PA - Donna J. Thomas, 84, of New Castle passed away the evening of Sept. 27, 2025, at UPMC Jameson Hospital, surrounded by her family.

Donna was born Dec. 25, 1940, in New Castle to the late Louis and Antonetta (Million) Rainey.

During her career as a nurse and nursing supervisor, she worked at several places, including Edison Manor.

Donna enjoyed vacationing on cruises, going to the casinos and playing bingo. She was a member of the Red Hat Society, AmVets and the Eagles Club. Her favorite sports team was the New York Yankees.

Most of all, she cherished the time spent with friends and family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Donna is survived by her children, Toni Burkardt (Tom), John Thomas III (Chris), Daniel Thomas, Lori Hewitt and Louis Thomas; brother, Louis Rainey (Tina); 13 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Traci Ables.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 2, at Holy Spirit Parish - St. Vitus Church, officiated by Father Aaron Kriss. Interment will be at St. Vitus Cemetery.
