Doris "Chick" Jean (Strawhecker) Petrozelle, 89, formerly of Volant, passed away peacefully at The Grove, New Wilmington, on Dec. 31, 2020.

Doris was born in New Castle on Feb. 6, 1931, to David T. and Minnie (Horn) Strawhecker Richael. She was one of 11 children.

Doris married Daniel T. Petrozelle on Aug. 29, 1953, and they had three children of their own.

Doris graduated from Harlansburg High School and later pursued a career in nursing at Bashline Hospital in Grove City.

Doris enjoyed visiting with friends at Yogi Bear Campground and treasured time spent at her brother's farm.

She spent more than 50 years in her Volant home, where she enjoyed sharing her love for baking, crafting and flowers with family and friends.

Doris' door was always open and food was always on the table. She greatly enjoyed having guests, but none were more special to her than her grandchildren.

Survivors include her sons, Daniel (Tina) Petrozelle of Masury, Ohio, and Russell (Nancy) Petrozelle of Cranberry Township; daughter, Rene (Mark) Corwin of Moon Township; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; brothers, Harry, George (Mary Ann), Robert (Bernice), William, James, and John (all Strawhecker); sisters, Ruth (Herman) Spieker, Dorothy (Ted) Adamczyk, Evelyn (Herman) Cvetan, and Kathryn Candioto; and a dear friend, Garnet Harrison.

Private family services will be held from noon to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2021, at the Smith Funeral Home, New Wilmington. The Rev. Marcus B. Smith will officiate the 1 p.m. service.

Interment will take place at Unity Baptist Cemetery, Harlansburg.
