Neshannock Township - Dorothy Eleanor Tanner, 84, of Jameson Place, Neshannock Township, Lawrence County, passed away at Jameson Place on Monday morning, surrounded by her family.

She was born Feb. 8, 1942, in New Castle, Pennsylvania, to the late William and Dorothy Kepp Hoye.

She married Glenn Dale Tanner on July 6, 1960, and he preceded her in death.

Dorothy was a graduate of Wilmington High School and was an active member of Neshannock Presbyterian Church in New Wilmington, Pennsylvania.

She formerly was the owner of The Amish Outlet.

While she was an active member of the Wilmington community, she was a welcoming presence at Jameson Place.

Survivors include two daughters, Sharon Lee Hlusko of Pulaski, Pennsylvania, and Susan Elizabeth (Jeffrey) Kerr of Irwin, Pennsylvania; a son, Robert William (Jeanna) Tanner of Cortland, Ohio; one brother, Sam (Sue) Hoye of Slippery Rock; eight grandchildren, John, Gary, Laura, David, Olivia, Kelsey, Billy and Josh; and four great-grandchildren.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn; two brothers, Bill and Chuck Hoye; and a sister, Helen Bennett.

The family would like to thank Gentiva Hospice for their wonderful care. Dorothy was blessed with the care she received at Jameson Place, and the staff became extended family to her. She cherished her time with them.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at The Smith Funeral Home, 310 W. Neshannock Ave., New Wilmington, PA. A funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, July 2, 2026, at the funeral home, with Rev. Judith Wilson officiating. Interment will follow at Neshannock Cemetery, New Wilmington, Pennsylvania.
