Dr. Paul John Suorsa, 95, of Slippery Rock, Pennsylvania, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2023. He was born Sept. 17, 1928, in New Castle, Pennsylvania, to Otto and Hilma (Lehto) Suorsa.

He married Gertrude Ullrich on Jan.24, 1959, and she preceded him in death on July 14, 2021.

Paul was a retired veterinarian who loved his family, his vocation and his community.

Survivors include daughters, Katherine (Kevin) Super of Cranberry Township and Susan (Harold) Brydon of Butler Pennsylvania; sons, Richard (Lynne) Suorsa of Fort Collins, Colorado, and Dr. Daniel (Tiffany) Suorsa of Slippery Rock; sister, Ruth (Roger) Schmucker of Louisville, Ohio; brothers, Martin (Alice) Suorsa of Saratoga, California, and Donald (Beth) Suorsa of New Castle; and eight grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife; three sisters; and a brother.

A funeral service for Dr. Suorsa will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 7, 2023, at the Smith Funeral Home, 421 New Castle St. Slippery Rock, PA 16057. Visiting hours are from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 6 and from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 7. Interment with family will follow in Slippery Rock Cemetery.
