Erma LaVerne Gorley of New Bedford, Pennsylvania, passed away at Hermitage Nursing and Rehabilitation Center on April 8, 2023. She was 95 years old.

She was born at home in Pulaski, Pennsylvania, on Aug. 7, 1927, to the late J. Lloyd and LaVerne Line Goodge.

After the early death of her mother, Erma was raised by her father and stepmother, Elnor (Bradford) Goodge.

She married Cramer William (Pete) Gorley on Oct. 11, 1947, and he preceded her in death on Feb. 28, 2008.

Erma was a lifelong and active member of the New Bedford Presbyterian Church. She served on many committees and taught Sunday School.

She served many years on the local election board and was an original member of the New Bedford Domestic Science Club and her Bridge Club.

She retired as a school bus driver for the Wilmington Area School District, as well as being a homemaker.

Survivors include her five children:, William (Diana) Gorley of New Hudson, Michigan, Karen (Arthur) Reinhart of Spokane, Washington, Robert (Carol) Gorley of West Middlesex, Bruce (Sybil) Gorley of Mercer and Susan (Jeff) McFarland of New Wilmington. Also surviving are two brothers, Keith Goodge and William Hollerman; 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Preceding her in death, in addition to her parents and husband, were two brothers, James Lloyd Goodge Jr. and Ray G. Goodge; two sisters, Maxine Wallace and Patricia Houpe; and one grandchild, Joshua Wade McFarland.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, April 22, 2023, at the New Bedford Evangelical Presbyterian Church from 10 a.m. until the start of the memorial service at noon. The church is located at 151 Woodland Drive, Pulaski, Pennsylvania.
