Bessemer - Ethel Louise (Donaldson) Kuhn, 86, of Bessemer died Friday, May 23, 2025, at St. Elizabeth Health Center, Boardman, Ohio, with her daughters by her side.

She was born Aug. 28, 1938, in Bessemer, the daughter of the late Lee and Ruth (Kerr) Donaldson. She was a 1956 graduate of Bessemer High School.

She married Norman Edwin "Ed" Kuhn on Oct. 23, 1959, and they raised two daughters in Bessemer before moving to West Chester, Ohio, for 24 years. They returned to Bessemer upon his retirement. He preceded her in death in 2008.

She was an active member of Westfield Presbyterian Church, where she previously served as a deacon, sang in the choir and was active in JOY (Just Older Youth). She had also been involved in the choir, handbells and played the trumpet with the West Chester Presbyterian Church orchestra.

She loved growing beautiful flowers and enjoyed sewing, always having several projects in various stages of completion and belonging to Where the Corners Meet quilt guild.

She also enjoyed cooking, whether it was for a family gathering or for community dinners at the church, in addition to many years cooking for the students of the Lakota Local School District in West Chester, Ohio.

Ethel leaves behind her daughters, Joy (Bryan) Cunningham of Bessemer, Pennsylvania, and Jean (David) Goetz of Glendale, Arizona; three grandsons, Justin (Lauren) Cunningham of Smithsburg, Maryland, Monas (Naomi) Cunningham of Ruther Glen, Virginia, and Brandon Goetz of Glendale, Arizona; four great-grandchildren, Cora, Vivian, Wesley, and Easton Cunningham; and her brother, Robert Donaldson of Burlington, Massachusetts.

Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 31, 2025, at Westfield Presbyterian Church, 1363 Mt. Jackson Road, New Castle, PA 16102, with service to follow at 2 p.m.

In place of flowers, memorials can be given to Westfield Presbyterian Church or a charity of your choice.
