New Castle, PA - Eugene E. McConnaughy, 73, of New Castle, passed away the night of June 26, 2026, at UPMC Jameson Hospital.

Born May 12, 1953, in New Castle, he was the son of Elmer Eugene and Margaret (Crum) McConnaughy and resided with Anna (Clements) and Dominic Ross, all of whom preceded him in death.

He was also preceded by a brother-in-law, Robert Sizer; one sister-in-law, JoAnn Sizer; and his mother-in-law and father-in-law, James and Pauline Sizer.

Eugene is survived by his wife of 53 years, Beverly (Sizer) McConnaughy, whom he married Sept. 6, 1972.

Mr. McConnaughy was a longtime employee of Universal Refractories until his retirement.

He was a member of Grace United Methodist Ministry.

Eugene was active with the 33-degree Masons and chairman of the Rainbows and Eastern Star. He also held memberships in the Meridian Masonic Lodge No. 411. He served as past master for two terms with Lodge of the Craft No. 433, Consistory, and Principal School of Instruction.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Christian, and daughter-in-law, Corinne McConnaughy, of Industry, Pennsylvania; five grandchildren, Liv McConnaughy, Luke Reed, Alexandra McConnaughy, Kamille McConnaughy and Alexis Charlier; and one great-grandson, Jace McConnaughy.

Visitation will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, June 30, at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle.

A funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 1, at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery.
