Eugene Pauline (Geno) Obituary

Denver, CO - Eugene "Geno" Pauline, 81, passed away in Denver, Colorado, on Nov. 13, 2025, surrounded by his family.

He was born April 21, 1944, in New Castle to Joseph and Phyllis Pauline.

As a boy, Geno discovered what would become his lifelong love, the piano. Though he never learned to read music, he could play anything he heard. From jazz bars in Denver to hospital lobbies and family living rooms, he turned melodies into memories for anyone lucky enough to listen.

Geno graduated from New Castle High School and Youngstown State University. He obtained his Master's from West Virginia University.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Era, and was stationed in Colorado Springs.

He stayed in the Denver area with his family, ultimately retiring as assistant vice chancellor at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center.

After he retired, Geno spent nearly 20 years volunteering with Meals on Wheels, including as board president, managing projects at Inner City Community Development Corporation, and helping build accounting systems for Musana Community Development Organization in Uganda, a nonprofit founded by his two middle daughters.

He is survived by his wife and soulmate of 43 years, Pat Pauline, and their four daughters, Theresa, Andrea, Leah and Jenna, who were the joy of his life. He was the proud and adoring "Grampa" to 10 grandchildren, Damalie, Dezirae, Kai, Mia, Joziah, Mateo, Javi, Ezra, Chloe and Baby Girl (coming 2026). He is also survived by his sister, Joanne (Ralph) Pisciuneri; and nieces, Denise (Charles) Abraham, Donna (Richard) Volpe, Doreen (Todd) Borst and Dina (Dom) Marzano and their families.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Veronica.

For Geno, family was everything. His greatest joy was being a husband, a dad, a brother, an uncle and a grandpa. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, music, laughter and unconditional love.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 5, 2026, at Holy Spirit Parish, St. Vitus Church. Father Aaron Kriss will officiate. Burial of his ashes will be at the St. Vitus Cemetery.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Ed & Don DeCarbo Funeral Home & Crematory, 941 S. Mill St.
