New Castle, PA - Fredrick "Sudsy" Settle, age 73, formerly of Mahoningtown, returned to the Lord the late afternoon of July 30, 2025.

Born Nov. 9, 1951, in New Castle, he was the son of the late Marion and Connie (Lombardo) Settle.

On Oct. 14, 1972, he married his beloved wife of 52 years, Sherry Peterson. Mrs. Settle survives at home.

Fred was a graduate of New Castle High School.

He worked as a welder, employed by Ellwood Quality Steel, until his retirement.

Fred enjoyed being outdoors, where he could hunt and fish. He enjoyed bowling and being a part of his community. Fred was a sports enthusiast and enjoyed coaching and umpiring. He loved cheering on the Pittsburgh Pirates, Pittsburgh Penguins and Dallas Cowboys.

Above all his achievements and hobbies, what mattered most to Fred was his family.

He was of the Christian faith.

In addition to his wife, Fred is survived by one son, Fred (Jessica) Settle of New Castle, Pennsylvania; daughter, Kelly (Thomas) Finley of New Castle, Pennsylvania; 12 grandchildren, Jason, Mackenzie, Cecilia, Sherridan, Madelynn, Fred, Thomas, Cassandra, Irelynn, Sophia, Katherine and Josephine; one great-grandchild, Connie; and several nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Connie Settle-Stewart; two sisters, Joyce Gierlach and Jan Norris; and three brothers, Louis, Stephen and Joseph Settle.

In keeping with his wishes, services will be private.
