Gilbert V. Lucarelli (Gil) Obituary
Bethel Park, PA - Gilbert "Gil" V. Lucarelli of Bethel Park, Pennsylvania, formerly of Youngstown, Ohio, and Hillsville, Pennsylvania, passed away Jan. 27, 2026, at the age of 92.
Born Sept. 1, 1933, in Youngstown, Ohio (Brier Hill), Gil was the son of the late Daniel and Carmel Lucarell.
Gil was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Marie M. (Palumbo) Lucarelli.
Gil was an Army veteran.
He was employed by the Internal Revenue Service for 30 years and retired in 1989. After retirement, Gil was employed as treasurer of Mahoning Township in Hillsville, Pennsylvania, and retired in 2016 after 20 years of service. He also served for a time as a supervisor for the township.
Gil was a graduate of Youngstown State University with a degree in accounting, a member of the Ohio Society of CPAs, and an honorary member of the Mahoning Township Volunteer Fire Department.
He and his wife were active members of St. Lawrence Parish and the parishes that followed, with Gil volunteering with the Holy Name Society and Parish Council.
He participated in bowling and golfing leagues for many years. He liked games of chance and was an avid sports fan, especially rooting for the Cleveland Browns.
He is survived by his children, Michelle McKain of Bethel Park, Pennsylvania, Nicole Lucarelli of Gaithersburg, Maryland, Maria Lucarelli of Columbus, Ohio, and Vincent Lucarelli and his wife, Catherine, of Ellicott City, Maryland; three grandchildren, Geoffrey McKain and Eli and Mazie Lucarelli. He also has many nieces and nephews. He will be dearly missed by his family.
In addition to his parents and wife, Gil was preceded in death by his brothers, Dominic Lucarell, Sam Lucarelli and twins Anthony and Danny Lucarelli, all of Youngstown, Ohio.
For the last four years, Gil was a resident of Paramount Senior Living in Bethel Park. The family thanks them for taking such wonderful care of him.
Visitation will be 9 to 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 4, at the Ed & Don DeCarbo Funeral Home & Crematory, 941 S. Mill St. The New Castle Area Honor Guard will perform full military rites at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. A procession will leave the funeral home at 10:15 a.m. Wednesday for a Mass of Christian burial at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Spirit Parish, St. Vitus Church. Father Aaron Kriss will officiate. Burial will be in St. Lawrence Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Holy Spirit Parish, 910 S. Mercer St., New Castle, PA 16101, or any local veterans organization.
