Gladys Irene "Gladie" Glenn, 80, of Volant, Plain Grove Township, passed away at Grove Manor Nursing Home in Grove City, Pa., on Saturday, Dec. 10, 2016, following an extended illness.

She was born in Carlisle, Pa., Cumberland County, on March 27, 1936, to Miles and Pearl McClintock Tobias. She grew up in Marysville, Pa., with siblings Pearl, Paul, Charles, Donald and Miles Tobias Jr.

She graduated from Perry Joint High School in New Bloomfield, Pa., in 1953. Gladie took employment at Daily Express Trucking Co. in Carlisle, where she met her husband, T. Richard "Dick" Glenn, in 1974.

Dick taught Gladie how to drive tractor-trailer (18 wheeler) trucks, and it didn't take Gladie long to tell Dick she could do it. They traveled across the country as a truck driving team for Daily Express from 1974 to 2006. They traveled over 4 million miles together spending everyday together. They retired in 2006. Gladie loved spending time with her family and enjoyed traveling to Hawaii, New Zealand and Australia

Survivors include her loving husband ,T. Richard, of 42 years at home; two brothers, Paul Tobias (Carrol) of New Bloomfield, Pa., and Don Tobias (Kathy) of Spanaway, Wash.; three sons, Darrell Wolf (Sharon) of Shermansdale, Pa., Ronald Mell Jr. (Sheryl) and Russell Mell (Will); daughter, Sheri Mell Motter (Gary), all of Carlisle, Pa.; stepdaughter, Kim Glenn Prokop (Michael) of Volant; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Charles and Miles Tobias Jr., and sister, Pearl Tobias Camerdon.

A memorial service will be held at the Plain Grove Presbyterian Church, 626 Plain Grove Road, Slippery Rock, Pa. 16057 on Saturday, December 17, 2016, at 11 a.m. With Rev. Dr. Stanley Keehlwetter, pastor of the church presiding.

Family will receive friends at the church on Saturday, Dec. 17, from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m.
