Iris Rita Alfera of New Castle passed away the afternoon of June 29, 2023, at Children's Hospital in Pittsburgh.

Iris was born on Dec. 2, 2021, in Butler.

Her adoring mother, Emily R. Alfera, survives at home.

From the moment of her birth, Iris' smile radiated with the brilliance of a thousand sunsets and her eyes sparkled with the wonder of a million stars. Iris brought joy and laughter to her mother, Emily; grandparents, Frank and Candise Alfera; and great-grandmother, Rita Joseph.

Iris was deeply loved by her aunts, uncles and cousins who had the privilege of sharing in her life and the delight Iris gave to her family.

In addition to her mother, Iris is survived by her maternal grandparents, Frank "Pap" and Candise "Gaga" Alfera; maternal great-grandmother, Rita "Caca" Joseph; her aunt, Amy Alfera; great-aunts and uncles, Patsy and Renee Sheldone, Vonnie Joseph, Crystal Joseph, and Dennis and Donna Alfera; her Godparents, Amber Sheldone and Logan Coyne; and many loving cousins.

Iris was preceded in death by maternal great-grandparents, Frank Alfera Sr. and Rose Alfera and maternal great-grandfather, Thomas A. Joseph.

A private blessing service was held at Ed & Don DeCarbo Funeral Home & Crematory. Father Joseph McCaffrey, pastor of Holy Spirit Parish, officiated.
