Jacqueline Jayne Bush

February 3, 1930 - March 11, 2025

Jacqueline Jayne Bush

Jacqueline Jayne Bush, at the age of 95, experienced one final change of address as she entered her heavenly home during the early morning of March 11, 2025.
In doing so, she was reunited with her beloved husband, Edward J. Bush, whom she married during the "Big Snow" on Nov. 29, 1950. Together, they built a life rich in love and faith.
Born Feb. 3, 1930, in New Castle, she was the daughter of Francis Cecil Mitchell and Marguerite (Dickson) Mitchell.
In addition to her parents and her husband of 60 years, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Jack Edward Mitchell and Dickson Mitchell.
Jacqueline is survived by one daughter, Maureen Hammond (Thom) of McMurray, Pennsylvania; two sons, Mark Bush (Terri) of Bradenton, Florida, and Jeffrey Bush (Kim) of Lake Norman, North Carolina; six grandchildren (Zac, MacKenzie, Mallory, Kirsten, Stephanie, Rachel); and two great-grandchildren (Francis and Piper.)
Jackie worked for Johnson Bronze in her early years, eventually becoming a telemarketer for Liberty Mutual Insurance Company until her retirement.
She was incredibly dedicated to her community theater, the New Castle Playhouse. Whether she was on stage playing the lead role in "Hello Dolly," behind the scenes bringing production to life or welcoming her guests with her warm smile, she persevered. She enjoyed mentoring young talent as well, and loved creating and directing musicals for the youth group and drama class at Clen-Moore Presbyterian Church. She made every performance a labor of love.
Beyond her love of the theater, Jackie's faith was nurtured from a young age at Clen-Moore Church. She was a lifelong deacon, she was a Sunday school teacher, a member of the Tri-M class, taught Bible school and, above all, a prayer warrior.
Her volunteer ministry was her full-time job after retirement. For over 30 years, she selfishly spread her faith, visiting nursing homes, hospitals and private residences to pray for the elderly, the infirm and shut-ins. Jackie found her true joy in the peace and comfort her prayers brought, a priceless gift to everyone she encountered.
In addition to her ministry, Jackie was a cherished member of the church choir for more than 40 years. Seated in the front row with her white hair aglow, sunlight streaming through the windows, many remarked that she looked like an angel. Now, as she rests with the angels, her radiant spirit will continue to inspire and uplift all who knew her.
Jacqueline Bush's legacy of love, service and unwavering faith will remain in our hearts forever.
Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday, March 17, at Clen-Moore Presbyterian Church, 220 Clen-Moore Blvd., New Castle followed by an 11 a.m. service. Pastor Michael Spicuzza and Reverend Chris Weichman will officiate.
Burial will be in Castleview Cemetery
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Clen-Moore Presbyterian Church, 220 Clen-Moore Blvd., New Castle, Pa.16105.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the R. Cunningham Funeral Home of New Castle, where online condolences may be offered to the family at www.cunninghamfh.com.

Plant a tree: How does it work

When your purchase is complete, a post will be made on the tribute wall of the deceased signifying the planting of a memorial tree.

An official certificate recognizing your purchase will be included with your email receipt. You can then forward the email to the family or print it and give it to them personally.

After an order is placed, our forestry partners will plant the tree in the area of greatest need (nearest the funeral home), according to the planting schedule for the year.
