James W. "Buck" Aiken
October 16, 1937 - September 27, 2019
James W. "Buck" Aiken, 81, formerly of New Castle, passed away the evening of Sept. 27, 2019, at Autumn Grove Care Center in Harrisville.
Born pm Oct. 16, 1937, in New Castle, he was the son of James T. and Hazel Mae (Stoops) Aiken.
Mr. Aiken served his country in the U.S. Army. Because of his love for mechanics, he was a member of Doctor of Motors and worked as a mechanic for Herr's, drove truck for Eazor and was also a self-employed mechanic.
He was active in the Society of Automotive Engineers and a 2005 and 2006 member of A.B.A.T.E. Motorcycle Club (Alliance of Bikers Aimed Toward Education.) He taught boat safety with the U.S. Power Squadron and was a member of the Castlewood Rod and Gun Club. He was of Protestant faith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Charles, Robert and David Aiken.
Buck is survived by his companion, Shirley Parshall of New Castle; one brother, Merle R. Aiken of South Amherst, Ohio; four sisters, Mildred (Roy) Magee of Harmony, Linda (Ron) McCombs of Hubbard, Ohio, Norma (Bob) Shaffer of Leesburg, Florida, and Marilyn (Jerry) Workman of New Castle; and his loving dog, Lily Mae.
Visitation will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2019, at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle. A funeral service will take place immediately following visitation at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2019, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Mt. Hermon Cemetery.

Plant a tree: How does it work
When your purchase is complete, a post will be made on the tribute wall of the deceased signifying the planting of a memorial tree.
An official certificate recognizing your purchase will be included with your email receipt. You can then forward the email to the family or print it and give it to them personally.
After an order is placed, our forestry partners will plant the tree in the area of greatest need (nearest the funeral home), according to the planting schedule for the year.
Due to seasonal conditions, the tree planting takes place during the spring and summer.

January - May
Planting will take place in Spring or Summer of the same year.
June - December
Planting will take place in Spring of the following year.
