James DiMuccio Jr. (Moochie) Obituary

New Castle - James 'Moochie' DiMuccio Jr., 88, of East Leasure Avenue, died Saturday, Nov. 15, 2025, at UPMC Passavant-Cranberry Township. He was born Oct. 30, 1937, in New Castle, a son of the late James and Philomena 'Minnie' (Mingione) DiMuccio Sr.

James married Constance L. (Colella) DiMuccio, on Oct. 20, 1962. She survives at home.

He was a United States Air Force veteran and a United States Marine Corp Reserve for two years.

After his service, he was a funeral assistant at the William F. DeCarbo Funeral Home. He worked in the HR Department and did payroll for Youngstown Sheet and Tube and LTV Steel, retiring after over 30 years. Currently, he was payroll for Castle Tool and Mold.

Moochie loved playing cards, dancing and listening to all kinds of music, especially Big Band, jazz and the blues. He played the saxophone and trumpet in the New Castle High School band and for several local bands. He was an avid baseball and softball player for many years.

Moochie was past president of the New Castle Band Boosters and the AFS Club.

In addition to his loving wife of 63 years, he is survived by four children, Dana L. McQuiston and her husband, Gary, of Pulaski, Darrin J. DiMuccio and his wife, Vicki, of New Castle, Devra A. Grabaskas of New Castle and Dawn M. Holtzapple and her husband, Randy, of Westfield, Indiana; two foreign exchange students who remained as sons for 30 years, Geradro Medina of Mexico and Gus Antonetti of Venezuela; eight grandchildren, Kortney McQuiston, James T. DiMuccio, Katie DiMuccio, Lauren Riley, Alec Grabaskas, Olivia Grabaskas, Sydney Holtzapple and Aidan Holtzapple; one great-granddaughter, Ashton Riley; one brother, Michael DiMuccio and his wife, Melanie; one sister, Barbara Mangino; and one sister-in-law, Carol DiMuccio.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by one grandson, Shane McQuisiton; and one brother, Richard DiMuccio.

Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 20, 2025, at the William F. DeCarbo & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home, 926 Cunningham Ave. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 21, 2025, at Holy Spirit Parish-St. Vitus Church. Father Aaron Kriss will officiate. Burial will be in Neshannock Presbyterian Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Shane McQuiston P.R.I.D.E. Award, a scholarship in memory of Moochie's grandson, given out to a senior member of the Wilmington High School band.
