New Castle, PA - James J. "Joe" McAdams Jr., 84, of New Castle passed away the afternoon of Jan. 28, 2026, at UPMC Jameson Hospital.

Born Sept. 17, 1941, in New Castle, Joe was the son of the late James J. McAdams Sr. and Catherine Lewis McAdams.

In the early years, Joe worked for McDonnell-Douglas in St. Louis and locally for Chemical Leaman Tank Lines as a diesel mechanic. Joe later drove truck for Vitale/Pyrotecnico Fireworks.

Joe had proudly served his country as a member of the United States Air Force.

In his younger days, Joe enjoyed snowmobiling.

He was a "Jack of All Trades" and could fix and work on anything mechanical.

Joe's greatest joy was spending time with his family.

Joe is survived by his son, Jim McAdams, and partner, Jodi Sharp; daughter, Jennifer McAdams; his partner of 15 years, Diane Straw, and her family; his brother, David McAdams; three grandchildren, Caydence, Brenna and Alaina; and five great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his brother, Robert McAdams.

Honoring his wishes a memorial service will be held at a later date.
