New Castle - James R. Robinson Sr., 91, of Harlansburg Road, died Monday, Jan. 12, 2026, at UPMC Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
He was born March 19, 1934, in New Castle, a son of the late Charles and Anna (Collingwood) Robinson.
James married Margie M. (Nicholson) Robinson on July 12, 1952. She survives at home.
Mr. Robinson was the owner/operator of Robinson's Trucking for a number of years. He then owned Robinson's Service and Equipment. He retired from McClymonds Trucking after 16 years.
He was a United States veteran of the Coast Guard Reserve.
He coached softball, and enjoyed hunting, painting and handyman work.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two children, James R. Robinson Jr. and his wife, Gwen, of LaGrange, Ohio, and Terri L. Riley and her husband, Russell, of New Castle; one son-in-law, Jeff Hammerschmidt of New Castle; eight grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Deborah Hammerschmidt; and three brothers, William, Clair and R. Robert Robinson.
Visitation will be noon to 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 15, 2026, at the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home, 926 Cunningham Ave. A funeral service will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 15, 2026. Pastor Domenick Cestrone will officiate.
