James Woods Obituary

James Arthur Woods, 85, of New Castle Road, Mercer, Springfield Township, passed away on Sunday, May 8, 2016, at St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital.

Mr. Woods was born on April 5, 1931, in New Castle to the late Clair Francis and Mary Marie Sagulla Woods.

He married Donna Mae Wilson on Nov. 20, 1953.

He retired from Wheatland Tube.

He was a 1949 graduate of Mercer High School.

Mr. Woods was an active member and past president of the Volant Lions Club and collected eye glasses for the club for many years. He was a member of the F&AM Wilmington Lodge 804 and the New Castle Consistory.

He served his country in the Korean Conflict as a tank driver.

He was a member of the Lebanon Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include his wife, Donna; a daughter, Kathlene "Kathy" Fitzgerald and her husband, Barry, of Mercer; a brother, Charles Woods and his wife, Ruth, of New Wilmington; and a sister-in-law, Donna Woods of Mercer.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Leroy Woods.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Smith Funeral Home of Leesburg, 1778 Perry Highway, Volant.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. Augie Hurst of Lebanon Presbyterian Church officiating.

Interment will follow in Leesburg Cemetery.
