Norcross, GA - Jane Lucille Bower was born Feb. 14, 1929, in Latrobe, Pennsylvania, to Charles and Gladys Boore.

She graduated from Latrobe High School in 1947, and Westminster College, New Wilmington, Pennsylvania, in 1951 with a bachelor's in business administration.

Jane married James Norman Bower on July 26, 1953, in Latrobe.

She taught business and secretarial subjects in Derry Township, Pennsylvania, Maury High School, Norfolk, Virginia, Swissvale in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and the Pittsburgh Business College.

Her teaching career ended when their first child was born on her husband's graduation day from medical school. Two years later they moved to New Castle, Pennsylvania, Jim's hometown, where they resided for 50 years.

For nearly 20 years, with her background in accounting, Jane served as the treasurer of the Jameson Hospital Junior Guild, the Lawrence County Garden Club, and Meals on Wheels, where she was also a board member and deliverer.

Jane was heavily involved in growing plants and had a green thumb for flowers. As a member of the Garden Club, she was active at the Hoyt Institute Rose Garden. An active sports enthusiast in tennis and winter skiing, she also cheered for the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Jane was a 50-year member of the Northminster Presbyterian Church, where she enjoyed playing the musical bells.

Later in retirement, Jane and Jim moved to Atlanta, Georgia, to join their two sons and their families. While there, they became members of the Duluth United Methodist Church.

Jane was predeceased by her parents and several aunts and uncles.

She is survived by her husband; two sons, Dr. David (Mary) Bower and Bruce (Cynthia) Bower; four grandchildren, Christopher (Lindsay) Bower, Jason (Megan) Bower, Caroline Bower and Paul Bower; and two great-grandsons, Ethan Bower and Adrian Bower.
