Janet P. Homer Obituary

Janet P. Homer, 97, of New Castle passed away at UPMC Jameson Hospital on November 28, 2016.

Janet was born on October 26, 1919, on a farm in Princeton to the late Walter and Margaret Frew Payne. She was married to the late Duard R. Homer in May of 1939, and the two of them spent 61 wonderful years together until his death on September 11, 2000.

Janet was a lifelong member of Highland Presbyterian Church and an ative member of the DAR. She was an excellent seamstress who also taught sewing at Mahoningtown School.

Janet is survived by her daughter, Patricia McLure; grandsons, Mark and Erica McLure of Wexford, and Lee and Barbara McClure of Carlisle; two great grandchildren, Megan and Oliver McLure; and her sister-in-law, Shirley and Russel Dawson of Orlando, Fla.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Turner-Myers Funeral Home, 208 N. Jefferson St., New Castle.

Funeral services will be on Friday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home and will be conducted by Rev. Richard Kinney of the Highland Presbyterian Church.

Interment will be in Graceland Cemetery.
