New Castle, PA - Joanne L. Krestel, 94, passed away Sept. 20, 2025, at her home, surrounded by her family.

She was a graduate of Union High School class of 1949 and a Navy veteran from 1951-1955.

Joanne loved to read, was active in politics, photography and spending time with family and friends.

Survivors include three children, Susan L. Bartholomew, John H. Krestel Jr. and Jill A. Krestel, all of New Castle. She is also survived by her eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Sharon Lynne Krestel Hudach; her parents, Emil and Wanda Blazak Levensky; two brothers, Emil and Buzzy; and two sisters, Carole and Eleanor.

Visitation will be 4 to 6 p.m. Friday, Sept. 26, at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle. A memorial service will be held immediately following at 6 p.m. The Rev. Dr. Adam Trambley will officiate. Military honors will be conducted by the New Castle Area Honor Guard.

A dinner will follow the service at The Henry Banquet & Event Center at 20 S. Mercer St.

In lieu of flowers, donations to her favorite charities, St. Jude Children's Cancer Hospital, Doctors without Borders and Smile Train, would be appreciated.
