Washington, D.C. - John P. Carr Jr. of Washington, D.C., formerly of Volant, Pennsylvania, passed away May 18,2026.
John was born May 17,1945 to the late John and Margaret (Vincent) Carr.
John was a 1963 graduate of New Castle High School and served his country in the US Air Force.
He married Kathleen (Bumbaugh) on May 12, 1977. She preceded him in death July 19, 2011.
John worked at Rockwell International for 21 years and retired from Wilmington Area School District in 2007.
John enjoyed woodworking, watching drag car racing, cooking and listening to music from the 1960s. He was also an avid animal lover.
John is survived by two daughters, Kristin and Lindsay; and his beloved dog Susie, all of Washington, D.C. John was preceded in death by his wife, parents and brother, Gary Carr.
The family will receive friends from 4 p.m. Wednesday, May 27, 2026, until the time of the 6 p.m. service at Smith Funeral Home, 310 W. Neshannock Ave., New Wilmington, PA. Pastor Rebecca Rosengarth will officiate. Interment will follow at Fair Oaks Cemetery, New Wilmington, PA.
Memorials may be given to the Lawrence County Humane Society, 628 Pearson Mill Road, New Castle, PA 16101.
