John Arthur 'J.R.' Riley Obituary

John Arthur 'J.R.' Riley, 64 of Raccoon Township, Pa., passed away on Monday, Feb. 1, 2016, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on Dec. 23, 1951, in New Castle, a son of Walter L. Riley and the late Lottie (Verlotte) Riley. He attended the Community College of Beaver County, where he studied air traffic control. He attended the Community College of Beaver County, where he studied air traffic control. He retired from the FAA Pittsburgh with nearly 30 years of service as an assistant controller. He was affectionately known by family and friends as "J.R." He was a car restoration enthusiast and a passionate pilot. His varied interests led him to refinish vintage cars and build his own airplanes. He shared his love of flying with his wife and children. In addition to his mother, J.R. was preceded in death by his sister, Jeannie Riley, who passed when she was 19 years old. J.R. is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Robin (Eggensberger) Riley; his father, Walter Riley; his son, Elliot (Alexandra Fisher) Riley of State College; his daughter, Lara (Jamie) Sheppa of Holly Springs, N.C.; two grandchildren, Kiersten and Alyssa Sheppa; and his brother, James (Becky) Riley of Columbia, Tenn. In honor of his wishes, cremation arrangements have been entrusted to the Saul-Gabauer Funeral Home Inc. A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Blaise Parish, 772 Ohio Ave., Midland, Pa. 15059.
