John J. Veres Obituary
John J. Veres, 87, of Ellwood City passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2022, at Allegheny General Hospital.
Born on Nov. 17, 1934, in Ellport, he was the son of the late Denes and Margaret Falcsik Veres.
He was married to Wilma Chiez Veres.
John graduated from Lincoln High School in 1952.
He worked at the B&W for more than 35 years until his retirement.
He was a member of the Local 1082 Steelworkers Union, Elks Club and the Holiday Ramblers Vacation Club Chapter 436.
Some of his interests were hunting, fishing, bowling, golfing and camping.
He loved to travel with his wife, Wilma, and was proud that he visited all of the lower 48 states, Canada, Mexico and most of the National Parks.
Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Wilma; two sons, John J. Jr. (Lori) of Ellwood City and Mark (Sheri) Veres of Ellwood City; daughter, Jeanne (Merle Zeigler) Morrison of New Castle; brother, Andrew (Gayle) Veres of Ohio; five granddaughters, Trisha (Brian) Spurlock, Jeanne Blublugh, Chelsey (John) Knapton, Stephanie (Jeremy Lantz) Morrison and Staci Morrison; grandson, Denes (Melissa Buddie) Veres; nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Denes, Eugene, Edward and George Veres; and sister, Priscilla Majors.
Visiting hours will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 28, 2022, at the Marshall Funeral Home. celebrated at 11 a.m. on Tuesday March 1, 2022, at Holy Redeemer Church.
Interment will follow in Holy Redeemer Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital or the charity of the donor's choice.
