Joseph Anthony Crist Obituary
Bessemer, PA - Joseph Anthony Crist, 65, passed away peacefully at home March 4, 2026.
Born Dec. 6, 1960, in New Castle to the late Anthony and Virginia Crist, Joe was a beloved husband, an amazing father and the most incredible "Pop" there ever was. He was a proud man — proud of his family and proud of his work.
A gifted craftsman, Joe had the rare ability to bring any vision to life. If something was broken, he could fix it. If you dreamed it, he could build it. He spent many years working as a contractor, creating lasting pieces that friends and family will cherish forever. His handiwork lives on in the homes and hearts of those he loved most. And if you were lucky enough to receive one of Pop's signature trains, you knew just how special you were to him.
Joe loved making memories with his family. His favorite place was Camp Carbon, or simply sitting outside by a fire with a cold Coors Light in his hand. An avid hunter, Joe felt closest to the Lord and most at peace in the woods.
He was a natural storyteller who could keep you laughing for hours, and he deeply treasured time spent with his buddies — especially his cherished breakfast buddies.
Joe met his wife, Tammy, in high school. Their love story spanned decades and was filled with day trips, dinners, laughter and unwavering devotion. Their bond was one of strength, loyalty and deep love.
Joe was a dedicated and hardworking man throughout his life. He worked as a self-employed contractor and for many years at the Essroc Cement Plant, continuing through the company's transition to Argos, where he recently retired from. He spoke fondly of his coworkers and his truck-driving buddies.
Above all, Joe's proudest accomplishment was his grandchildren. They were his pride and joy — his greatest blessing and his best medicine. Everything he did, he did for them.
Joe leaves behind his loving wife of 42 years, Tammy (Johns) Crist; his son, Joseph Crist Jr.; his daughter, Megan (Bryan) Stacy; his grandson, Hunter Stacy; his granddaughters, Millie Jo Stacy and Audrey Stacy; brothers, Michael and Anthony (Julie) Crist; sister, Marcia (Dennis) Trocci; sisters-in-law, Georgie (Herb) Churchill, Susan (Eugene) Garczewski; many beloved nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; and many adoring cousins and many countless friends.
In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Mildred Johns; sister, Susan Maola; brother-in-law, Larry Maola; and sister-in-law, Kristen Crist.
Joe leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, craftsmanship, laughter, and devotion to family. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who were blessed to know him.
Per Joe's request, there will be no visitation or services scheduled at this time.
