Josephine A. Dec, 101, of Akron, Ohio, formerly of New Castle, passed away on Saturday, April 16, 2016, at Akron General Hospital. Josephine was born on Oct. 15, 1914, in New Castle. She was a daughter of the late Stanley and Mary Pezda Adamczyk. Josephine was married to Louis J. Dec. He preceded her in death in November 1975. They were married for 35 wonderful years. Mrs. Dec was of the Roman Catholic faith and attended Mary, Mother of Hope Parish. Mrs. Dec will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother to her family. She really enjoyed life and was a good person who everyone loved. Josephine enjoyed cooking and gardening. Mrs. Dec was an accomplished seamstress and made all types of clothing. She especially enjoyed making suits and dresses. Josephine is survived by her daughter, Sally J. Dec of Akron,; and her granddaughter, Virginia S. Dec of Bratenahl, Ohio. In addition to her parents and husband, Louis, she was preceded in death by her son, John L. Dec; four brothers, Walter “Flossie” Adamczyk, Felix “Phil” Adamczyk, Frank “Chick” Adamczyk and John “Sam” Adamczyk; and her two sisters, Mary Mateja and Helen Gorgasz. Calling hours will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Noga Funeral Home Inc., 1142 S. Mill St., New Castle. A blessing service will be celebrated at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Pastoral associate Lauren DeFelice will officiate. Burial will be in Madonna Cemetery.
