Shenango Township, PA - Joyce M. Maxwell, 79, of Shenango Township, passed away the afternoon of July 15, 2026, at Butler Memorial Hospital.

Joyce was born in New Castle on Oct. 29, 1946, the daughter of the late Earl and Gladys Casper Ettinger. She married her beloved husband, Richard J. Maxwell, Sr., on Aug. 8, 1964. He survives at home.

Joyce was formerly a member of Full Deliverance Tabernacle. She worked for many years at Jameson Hospital in the Housekeeping Department. Joyce enjoyed playing bingo, cooking, sewing, and, most importantly, she cherished the time spent with her family.

In addition to her husband, Joyce is survived by her three children, Richard J. Maxwell, Jr., Thomas Maxwell and Sheri Maxwell-Samuels; three brothers, Earl Ettinger, Jr., Harry Ettinger, and William Ettinger; one sister, Margaret Pyle and her grandsons, John Samuels, Jr. and Alexander Samuels.

In addition to her parents, Joyce was preceded in death by her brother, Ronald Ettinger, and half-siblings Ruth Elbell, Mary Wysa, and Robert Elbell.

Visitation will be at Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home, 941 S. Mill St. on Monday, July 20 from 10 a.m. until noon. A funeral service will immediately follow at noon at the funeral home, officiated by Joyce's nephew, Father John Ettinger. Online condolences may be offered at decarbofh.com
