Joylee MacDonald McCaughtry, 81, of Ellport passed away Tuesday, July 18, 2023, in the emergency room at UPMC Jameson.

Born in Ellwood City on Nov. 25, 1941, Joylee was a daughter of the late Eugene and Isabell Means MacDonald.

She married Jerry McCaughtry Sr. in 1987.

Joylee was a 1959 graduate of Lincoln High School.

She worked at Flowline in New Castle and later retired from Home Instead after 20 years of being a caregiver.

Joylee was Presbyterian by faith and lived her faith by volunteering.

She was the "lunch lady" for many summers during the Carpenter's Project. She traveled to Boone, North Carolina, to pack hundreds of shoe boxes for Samaritan's Purse and even traveled to Biloxi, Mississippi, to lend a hand after Hurricane Katrina. Joylee also participated in Relay for Life.

In addition to her husband, Joylee is survived by two sons, Michael Lucas of Ellport and Mark Lucas of Perry Township; three stepsons, Jerry McCaughtry Jr. of South Carolina, Jay McCaughtry of Koppel and Jeff McCaughtry of Philadelphia; a sister, Blanche Novak of Ellport; two brothers, Connie (Lori Dunham) MacDonald and Merel (Kathy) MacDonald, both of Ellwood City; six grandchildren, Rileigh, Jacob, Jessica, Michael, Joey and Josh; several great-grandchildren; four sisters-in-law, Betty MacDonald of Zanesville, Ohio, Arlene MacDonald of New Castle, Carol MacDonald of Ellwood City and Beth MacDonald of Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin; and her former husband, Ray Lucas of Wayne Township.

Joylee was preceded in death by her parents and six brothers, Gene, Bob, John "Jack," Tom, Jim and Terry MacDonald.

Friends will be received 4-6 p.m. Saturday, July 22, at the Joseph A. Tomon Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 97 Grim Ave., Ellport, and one hour before the 4 p.m. Sunday, July 23, funeral service with the Rev. Dr. Carolyn Moss officiating.
