Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Florida - Julia Ann Salamon-DeLeone, 89, passed away peacefully Nov. 25, 2024, in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, surrounded by loved ones.
Julia was born in New Castle, Pennsylvania, the youngest of 10 children born to the late George Steve Salamon and Julia Ann Molnar Salamon, who immigrated to America from Kamienka, Czechoslovakia, in the early 1900s.
Julia was a devout Catholic and lived a life of faith, forgiveness and fortitude. She could easily be defined by the two mottos she lived by: If you have nothing nice to say, then say nothing at all, and treat others the way you wish to be treated.
She was, first and foremost, a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and beloved aunt who always put her family before herself.
She worked as a comptroller and finance manager until she retired in 2019, and loved playing cards and games with her family and many friends.
Her survivors include her beloved brother, Frank (wife, Kay) Salamon; sister-in-law, Marian (Steve) Salamon; her beloved children, Joni (Carlos) Ferrer, Anthony (Veronica) DeLeone, Gina (David) Casto, Lisa Armitage and Carmen DeLeone; 14 grandchildren, Carlos Ferrer Jr. (Michele), Jennifer Ferrer, Sabrina DeLeone, Sophia DeLeone, Olivia DeLeone, Daniel Casto, Michelle (Justin) Schlegel, Keith Casto, Alexandria Armitage, Kyle (Claire) Armitage, Molly-Caitlyn (Will) Francis, Nicholas (Brittany) DeLeone, Giana DeLeone and Stefan DeLeone; six great-grandchildren, Samantha Schlegel, Justin Schlegel, Jameson Ferrer, Everley DeLeone, Eli DeLeone and Luke DeLeone; stepgranddaughter, Charlotte Drobot; as well as a myriad of cousins, nieces and nephews, all of whom she thought of often and cherished every day.
She will be sorely missed and remembered by all as a stalwart matriarch who taught her family to value each other. Her faith and devotion were evident in her last wish for her family, which is that they keep God in their life always.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 12, at Holy Spirit Parish, St. Mary's Church, 124 N. Beaver St., New Castle, PA 16101.
A Celebration of Life will continue Monday following the Mass at 1 p.m. at Gallo's Italian Villa, 2420 Wilmington Road, New Castle, PA 16105.
