New Castle, PA - Karen Evonne Bessell Cook, 83, of New Castle, passed into glory March 4, 2026, and is at rest in the arms of Jesus.

Karen was born Feb. 5, 1943, in New Castle. She was the daughter of Matthew and Myrtle Bessell.

Karen married Boyd Cook (Cookie) on Sept. 8, 1967. They were blessed to enjoy 52 beautiful years together. She was always by Cookie's side and served as his trusted co-pilot and second mate. They enjoyed anything with wheels: NASCAR, snowmobiles, motorcycles and long trucking trips across the country.

Karen attended Laurel High School and was a lifelong area resident. In her later years, she worked in the Laurel cafeteria and enjoyed spending time at school with her granddaughters each day.

Karen loved the Lord and was a faithful member of Neshannock United Presbyterian Church.

Her kindness and love radiated and blessed all those who knew her. She also enjoyed gardening, feeding her birds, old school country music, anything llamas, cheering for the Steelers and doting on her beloved dogs.

Karen is survived by her daughter, Terri Cook Lewis (John); daughter-in-law, Marjorie White; and granddaughters, Kendra White Slater (Andrew), Kathleen White Young (Russell) and Kimberlee White.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Cookie; and two sons, Kenneth White Jr. and Matthew White. May their joyful reunion in Heaven bring all who knew and loved Karen peace during this time.

The family will celebrate Karen's life from 1 to 2 p.m. Monday, March 9, at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home & Crematory Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle. A service will follow immediately at 2 p.m. with Pastor Jason Schepp officiating.
