Kenneth Ellwood Meals, 82 of Plain Grove Township, Volant, passed away at his residence on Friday, June 8, 2018, at 11:10 p.m. Ken was born in Brady Township, Butler County on Sept. 6, 1935, to Kenneth Leroy "Roy" Meals and Dorothy Juanita May Walls Meals. He married Lois Kamerer on Nov. 11, 1960, and she preceded him in death on June 6, 2012.

Ken enjoyed life. Spending time with his family was his favorite activity. Ken called for square dances for more than 50 years. He was very active in his church and loved to dance. Ken and Lois enjoyed Western Style dancing with the Paws and Taws. He retired from Copper Bessemer in Grove City in 1998. Ken was a US Army Veteran and a founding member of Hillcrest Presbyterian Church.

He is survived by three sons, Steven J. Meals (Elaine) of North Lima, OH, Alan K. Meals (Shana) of New Castle, and Gary D. Meals (Beth) of Volant; two daughters, Cheryl L. Yute (Mike) of Mercer, and Marie A. Canon (Mark) of West Middlesex; two sisters, Lila Book (Norman) of Butler, and Joann Hines (Jesse) of Slippery Rock; and 15 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and wife.

Funeral Services will be at the Hillcrest Presbyterian Church 5114 Perry Hwy., Volant, PA on Wednesday, June 13, 2018, at 2 p.m., with Pastor Steve Tipton presiding. Family will receive friends at the Smith Funeral Home, 421 New Castle St., Slippery Rock, Pa. on Tuesday, June 12 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. and on Wednesday at the Hillcrest Presbyterian Church from 1 p.m. until the service at 2 p.m. Interment will be in North Plain Grove Cemetery, Plain Grove Township, Lawrence County.
