Lillian "Lill" A. Germaine, 93, of West Pittsburg passed away the morning of March 12, 2025, at Mt. Assisi Place in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Born June 13, 1931, in West Pittsburg, Lill was the daughter of the late Thomas P. Carangi Sr. and Anna Passalinqua Carangi.
Lill was also preceded in death by her beloved husband, Anthony (Edger) Germaine Jr.
In the early years, Lill worked for Mooney Brothers Trucking as a bookkeeper. She then worked for Butz Florist as a designer and for Challenges/Area Office on Aging as a caseworker, which was one of her favorite jobs.
Lill's favorite pastime was her wedding decorating and consulting business.
Lill was a woman of faith. The most important thing in life for Lill was God, family and friends. She was always focused on the needs of people.
As a member of Holy Spirit Parish, Lill had been a former cantor and member of the choir at church and was involved in many church and civic activities including The Cursillo Movement. Lill and her husband also handled the music for hundreds of funerals and weddings over the years.
Lill is survived by her brother, Thomas Carangi (Sally); four nephews, Christopher Sparacino (Sharon), Frances Sparacino (Teresa), Very Reverend Father Thomas Sparacino and Thomas A. Carangi Jr. (Jan); two nieces, Lisa Carrol (Randy) and Kimberly Kosior (James); and several great-nieces and great-nephews and great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Lill was preceded in death by her daughter, Cynthia (Cindy) Germaine; her son, Anthony (Rock) Germaine III; sisters, Marie Sparacino and Bambina (Babe) Carangi; brother-in-law, Jim Sparacino; her niece, Mary Ann Sparacino; and her stepgrandson, Dennis Santiago.
Visitation will be 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Ed Don DeCarbo Funeral Home & Crematory, 941 S. Mill St. A procession will leave the funeral home at 10:15 a.m. Monday for a Mass of Christian burial at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Spirit Parish, St. Vitus Church. Her nephew, Very Reverend Father Thomas Sparacino, will officiate.
Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Monarch Hospice Lower Burrell, Pennsylvania, and Mt. Assisi Place, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, for their wonderful care of Lill.
